For the record, state your name, a short Bio, and how you became the writer you are today.
I spent most of my childhood detesting English class. It was one of my least favorite subjects because I never seemed to fit into the standard mold. I wasn’t good at spelling, or following grammar rules, and outlines made my head spin. For that reason, I never imagined becoming an author.
At the age of thirty, all of that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, I decided to try my hand at writing an alternate ending and give the characters their happily ever after. By the time the story finished, it was one of the top ten read stories on the site, and my readers were encouraging me to write more.
I have been writing ever since.
What inspires, motivates, influences your writing?
I get inspiration from all sorts of places. My most popular series, Finding Anna, came about from my new interest in BDSM fiction and listening to news coverage about a young woman who was held captive as a sex slave. My Serpent’s Kiss series came about because my beta issued me a challenge to see if I could write a Femdom story.
Motivation is probably where I struggle most as a writer. The thing that keeps me focused the most are deadlines.
There isn’t one thing that influences me. I know what I like to read and I incorporate that into my writing.
Out of all your characters you’ve created, who is you absolutely favorite one and why?
I love all of them for different reasons. If I didn’t, I would write them.
I don’t really have a favorite.
I’d say the two I’m closest to is Stephan and Brianna, but that’s because their story was so emotional and I spent over seven years with them in total writing their story.
Some authors have background noise (i.e music, tv, etc), what’s yours?
I usually key up a playlist on Youtube. Depending on the characters, it varies from classical to pop to country.
Do you do book tours/signings?
Yes, I’ve participated in several signings over the last five years. Most of them have been here in Ohio, but I’ve also been to Austin, Dallas, Las Vegas, Colorado Springs, and St. Louis.
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? 10? 20?
Hopefully, I’ll still be writing at least for the next 10 years. Maybe even the next twenty, but I’d say that’s too far out to be sure. So much can happen in twenty years, or even ten. Heck, I hadn’t even written my first story ten years ago.
What would advice could you give your fellow authors? What would you like to tell your readers? This is where you have the floor….give links to your work as well.
Whatever you write you should be passionate about. I feel every joy…every heartbreak my characters do. I think that’s a must in order to be a good storyteller.
My readers are got me started on this writing journey and they are what keep me going. There is nothing that lifts a writer up than getting a note from a reader saying how much they loved one of your books or how your book touched them in some way.
Currently, I have eight full-length novels and three novellas published ranging from contemporary romance to BDSM erotic romance.
